WHAT'S NEW - First Option: UK & International Training

First Option: UK and International Training

The recent relaxation of international travel restrictions has allowed the First Option Training Team to resume its highly regarded international training courses in several key locations across Europe, Asia & Africa.

Since we recommenced face to face residential training at our base in Tunbridge Wells in July 2020, our team has been focused on delivering gold standard Hostile Environment & First Aid Training (HEFAT) for our high profile media clients.  An already busy training schedule ratcheted up several gears from January 2021, as we started the delivery of weekly Security Awareness in Fragile Environments (SAFE) training for the UK government. And if that wasn’t enough to do, members of our Training Team have recently travelled to several overseas locations in East Europe and Africa to deliver HEFAT, Public Order and SAFE courses to both UK government and media clients.

Our intensive training courses cover a wide range of vital operational skills for Government, Media, NGO, Aid & Charity organisations in Travel Health and Safety, Security, Risk Assessment, Operational Awareness, First Aid, Trauma Management and Casualty Evacuations. The team deliver using detailed presentations, group assignments, practical sessions and realistic high-fidelity scenarios.  The First Option trainers are carefully selected so that we are able to provide clients with a wide range of relevant experiences from across the Military, Emergency Services (including Paramedics, Police & Fire Services), Security, Overland and Expeditionary fields. Our courses are pitched to provide relevant real-world skills - adapted to often vastly different operating conditions, climates, and terrain – whilst remaining sensitive to varied local cultural, gender, social and religious considerations.

The delegates participating in courses in East Africa were drawn from right across the organisational spectrum and the team were delighted to train UK government staff, national, regional, and international correspondents, camera and drone operators, field producers, editors, drivers and bureaux management staff. The broad geographical spread of our delegates provided really invaluable input into each course with a fantastic variety of different front-line, social and cultural experiences shared by the delegates throughout the duration of the courses.  Our team successfully delivered training to over 150 individuals in total.

Many more international courses are already scheduled for early 2022 across a variety of international locations and we look forward  to supporting our key clients at home and overseas.
