WHAT'S NEW - Dua Lipa’s Shanghai concert

Security guards detained after Dua Lipa’s Shanghai concert

Two security guards at Dua Lipa’s recent concert in Shanghai were detained for ten days on 12th September, according to a statement released by the Qingpu Police.

The security guards were accused of kicking, hitting and arguing with fans during the concert. Organiser Live Nation apologised to the fans and stated that the conflict began when an audience member fell during the concert, twisting her ankle. Attempting to prevent another incident by stopping fans from standing, security guards clashed with fans.

Footage of the event was circulated on social media, with users for Weibo – a popular Chinese social media site – describing their reaction as “stunned”.

Another video of the event showed Dua Lipa reacting to the events in the audience by commenting, “I want to create a really safe environment for us all to have fun.”

The following day, the singer took to Twitter to comment: “I was horrified by what happened and I send my love to all my fans involved.”
