Working at Height and Rescue - Riggers and Production Personnel

Course Overview    

First Option has teamed up with MCL for a 2-day safety course for riggers and production personnel, for the use of fall protection equipment whilst working at height and rescue. The course has been created for the entertainment, theatre, film, television and events industry. 

Course Aims

To provide an overview of the legal requirements for working at height, to pre-use check equipment, safe use of fall protection equipment and how to carry out a rescue using the specified rescue equipment. 

Course Content 

  • Explain the legal requirements relating to working at height.
  • Explain the hierarchy of controls under the working at height.
  • Identify the PFPE equipment and equipment required to carry out a rescue.
  • Use of fall protection equipment when climbing truss, ladders and steel work.
  • Carry out a rescue using specified rescue equipment. 
  • Discuss and review recertification and training.

  • Harness fitting and set up.
  • Rigging of rope protection systems. 
  • Awareness of rope and sling protection.
  • Hauling & lowering equipment. 
  • Rope ladders Access Methods. 
  • Use of work restraint equipment. 
  • Use of work positioning equipment. 
  • Use of fall arrest equipment Rescue. 
  • Rescuing after a fall.
  • Suspension intolerance and casualty management.
