1st Option Safety Group in association with ConsortiQ are proud to offer you our new Unmanned Aircraft Qualification (UAQ) Media Course which is designed to give those working in TV and video production all the practical and theoretical skills needed to begin to operate drones safely and efficiently.

Designed and delivered by media professionals from ConsortiQ, the Unmanned Aircraft Qualification (UAQ) Media
course is an end-to-end residential training programme aimed at giving those working in TV and video production all the practical and theoretical skills needed to begin to operate drones safely and efficiently. It incorporates a CAA-approved qualification, the prerequisite for commercial operation.

Led by ex-BBC filmmaker, Michael Surcombe of ConsortiQ, the UAQ-Media course brings together theoretical, practical drone skills and creative tools needed to shoot aerials creatively in production.

Learning Type: Classroom – Indoor and Outdoor Environment. Plus pre-course distance learning.

Candidates are required to bring their own drone equipment for this course.

Course Content 

The UAQ-Media qualification covers six modules designed to give a range of drone industry knowledge from beginning to end. The course includes:

  • Basic flight training and technical foundations
  • CAA-approved ground school studies
  • CAA-approved flight assessment
  • Advanced media-specific scenarios
  • Simulator training
  • Drone camera setup

Aims & Objectives:
To give staff a foundation in practical skills, regulatory knowledge and risk management for small-scale drone operation in productions.

Qualifications

Unmanned Aircraft Qualification for Media (UAQ-M) will be issued after completion of this course.
